Hello again! In the fall the 7th grade curriculum is tied heavily to environmental science, which includes the study of the reconstructed prairie at Fermilab. On Tuesday, November 5, Team 7-2 will be walking to the prairie at Fermilab. We will participate in a variety of activities to explore many aspects of the prairie grassland ecosystem. This field trip will take place from 8:10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Students will not miss their exploratory classes, but will be eating lunch at the prairie - please pack a sack lunch. In the event of bad weather, we will reschedule, although a rain date has not yet been set. We will not make a decision on cancellation until close to 8 a.m., so please send your student to school prepared to participate in warm clothing.
Please give your permission by signing below, detaching, and sending this slip back to Mrs. Connell as soon as possible. We ask that you review the list of field trip needs with your student and your behavior expectations at home, as we will be at school. The success of this field trip greatly depends on parental involvement, so if you can volunteer for this field trip, please confirm your availability.
Student needs for the fieldtrip:
· A sack lunch and drink
· Appropriate dress for a chilly fall day outdoors
· Appropriate walking shoes (absolutely no flip-flops)
Hats, sunglasses, water bottles, and backpacks are okay to bring if the students want to carry them while walking. The hike is approximately 35-45 minutes there and back. If your child needs medication, bug spray or sunscreen, please apply that at home before school. If the school nurse gives your child medication during the school day, it will be taken on the trip. Please be sure to notify us below of allergies or other challenges the team should be aware of during this trip with your student.
I give my permission for my student, , to participate in the prairie field trip on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
